Why do you want to lose weight?
One of the questions I ask my clients is why do you want to lose weight? What’s your motivation? It’ s just something for you to think about before you come and see me.
Many people just say that they are not happy with the way they look. That’s not a great motivator, it’s not a positive reason for losing weight. So this needs to be addressed firstly and re framed into something more positive .
Some people need to lose weight because of health issues, such as diabetes or joint pain. This can be a moderate motivator. How long have you been suffering with health issues? Is it a recent event, or have you been ill for years because of your weight issues.
Some people want to lose weight because their getting married, or because they want to try for a baby, and know the chances of conceiving improve significantly with weight loss. Other’s have set themselves some form of physical challenge, such as wanting to take up a new sport. These are really strong motivators.
