Did you know that Phobias are very common?  

It’s estimated that around 15% of the adult population experience a phobic response each year.  Phobias are the most common mental illness among women across all age groups and the second most common illness among men older than 25.

Symptoms of phobias include breathlessness, nausea, obsessive thoughts with the feared source, and a heighten fear of death. These symptoms can escalate into full blown panic attacks. The problem with phobias is that individuals can isolate themselves, or struggle to maintain their relationships, or even refuse to leave their homes. Sadly, many people choose to live with phobias and don’t seek help.

A phobia works on the same principal as a panic cycle. 

Repeated exposure to the feared source causes the reaction to grow in intensity. The unconscious mind believes the response was the correct choice and so automatically responds to all future events in the same way.

We create a feedback loop which is hard to break with conscious thought. We don’t have access or control over this loop because it’s buried in our unconscious mind.
